With so much choice available now for a high growth area of holidays, we thought it was time to tell you what it is that sets us apart from the rest. We could very easily refer you to our amazing five star reviews on TripAdvisor or the very kind Facebook reviews from clients, but here are some of the things you might not know.
International qualified tour guides
Would you ever consider paying for a driving lesson with a driving school teacher who isn’t qualified? Or consider taking skiing lessons from a guide who doesn’t have the correct experience and competency? Obviously not, but the growing market of cycling holidays means that unfortunately, many people are offering you just that! At Cycle Retreats, all our guides are qualified to the highest level and are available for both UK and international cycling leadership. We never use casual third-party guides, only skilled professionals who are carefully selected and employed by Cycle Retreats. All our guides are qualified in first-aid. First aid requirements are very different on a bike and our guides are qualified to deal with all emergencies including outdoor mountain rescue!
A carefully select exclusive Retreat
Our luxury Retreat is where we host your extra special holiday. We will never place you in a hotel or move you from accommodation to accommodation. We set up our Retreat for the whole season working closely with our property manager to ensure we have the best location possible for your stay with us. This means we are able to put those special touches on your perfect getaway! Whilst you are with us, everything will be just as it should be leaving us to focus on catering for all your needs. We firmly believe in our ethos of Cycling Done Your Way, and hosting at the same location throughout the season will make a perfect holiday for you.
The Cycle Retreats family
So that Mark, Zoe, and of course Archie, can spend more time with you cycling, relaxing and enjoying your holiday, we have selected the perfect hosts to look after you whilst you are with us. All our hosts are wonderful, not only do they look after us, they are fabulous at baking! Don’t expect to go home without putting on a few pounds!
We start the day with a hearty breakfast done how you like it, finishing off with a delicious high-end three course meal, served with carefully selected wines from the local area. One thing many of our returning guests get very excited about is Zoe’s cooking! After many years of experience and attending different cooking schools all over the world her culinary skills have certainly started to pay off. Zoe’s recipes are fast becoming legendary and because recipes are so frequently being asked for the pressure is on for our very own Cycle Retreats Cook Book! Zoe is hoping to put one together as soon as she finds the time!
Our produce is delivered from the ground to our door by a local organic farmer, it’s amazing you can just see, smell and taste the difference. As we have a fantastic relationship with a local butcher and fishmonger it means we get the highest quality of meat and fish from them.
Our amazing Afternoon Tea is served with fabulous homemade cake, with any drink that tickles your fancy!
We stock a great selection of wine sourced from a local supply, and because we appreciate everyone has a different palette, we stock an extensive range to accommodate everyone!
Our bar is unlimited, there are no restrictions on soft drinks, beer, wine, tea, coffee and water. We do have a small honesty shop for spirits Our water is filtered to ensure it is kept to UK standards. Feel free to help yourselves, if a bottle hasn’t been opened then please make sure you open it!
Each room is supplied with high-end toiletries so no need to pack them! You’re on your holiday so we will wash your cycling kit for you and return it to your room ready for when you get back from a day in the saddle. We can arrange for private yoga/Pilates classes for Retreats guests only. We host a very successful Paella cooking lesson with a fabulous Spanish lady who cooks with love and flair, very popular with all of our guests. Enjoy our gift baskets on arrival, plus a limited-edition cycle jersey exclusive to Cycle Retreat and only available to our guests. Plus, we have some secret gifts to give during your stay. On rest day, activities can be arranged for you. Our very own in-house treatment room allows you to book sports massage and many other in-house treatments.
All you have to do is pedal!
We will arrange hire of a Carbon Fiber bike at no extra cost. We can also arrange for pedals and ladies’ saddles. If you’ve had a recent bike fit, then send us your dimensions and we can set that up for you. If you would prefer to bring your own bike, that’s no problem as we have qualified bike mechanic on hand.
The boring but important bit
